To think this is an unrealistic expectation

DD 6 has a main role in the end of term performance. Not main character but more lines than anyone else. Around 10 very chunky paragraphs and many new and complex words. She’s very stressed about it and says there’s no way she will remember them. I actually think she can, she has a great memory and I’m sure her teachers wouldn’t have given her the part if they didn’t have confidence in her (I’ve shared the lines with a few friends, all of whom had a ‘bloody hell that’s ridiculous’ response!) However, she’s asked if she can have some cue cards to put her mind at rest and remind her of some of the harder words and her teacher has basically said no. AIBU thinking this is a bit too much pressure for a year 2?! Normal school btw, not a stage school or anything 🤪 any advice how to approach it with the teacher would be appreciated. I don’t want her stressing for the next few weeks which will hinder her learning them anyway.

It’s ages until the end of term. Why doesn’t she do her best to learn them and you can revisit the question of cue cards nearer the time if necessary. I can see why the teacher said no at this point/ I’ve never seen cue cards used in a school play.

Yes good point, I just want to give my daughter some peace of mind so she can focus on learning them without feeling pressure. I’ve not seen them either but equally don’t remember ever hearing words such as ‘accolade’ and ‘annunciate’! It’s 3 weeks away.
