Airbnb Booking - no response

I’ve booked through Airbnb a handful of times and never had this issue I’ve always just been able to book.

I’ve requested to book a cottage in Norfolk next year on the Easter weekend (Fri - Mon) but my request has gone unanswered despite me (and presumably airbnb) chasing. I’ve had a message from airbnb saying sorry we’ve not taken your deposit and here are some alternative options.

none of which are quite right. There are no more bookings yet for the cottage in April and it only states that full week bookings are required in August.

does this happen often and I’ve just never experienced it or is it just a bit rude for the request to go unanswered?

Just book something else.

The properties on sites like Airbnb are individually owned so you could have a different experience every single time.

It's down to individual owners to update the calendars, price lists, availability etc so not a lot Airbnb can do

They don’t want your booking 🤷‍♀️
find somewhere else

I’ve booked 2 different properties on Airbnb this week, both cancelled by the owners just after. Really annoying as we spent ages choosing. I gave up on Airbnb and booked elsewhere.

I was supposed to stay a night somewhere in San Francisco and the day of the stay the guy with the abnb just didn’t pick up the message, had to find somewhere else on my own in unfamiliar city. Get refunded. Yes it happens, good job you find out now not later.

Take as a sign and book somewhere else. We got told pipes had burst and had to be moved to another property was OK 12hrs before but had messages after flight had landed. was several miles away and not so nice. Took a few days to sort out which was time lost on holiday.

Mmmm thank you I’ll look at other sites now

I kinda cut to the end. Years ago we booked a cheap AirBnB in Belfast, 2 nights, I think, us and 2 teenaged DC. Part of a 6 day trip. For some odd reason, I'd gone cheap. Anyway, we were 24 hours out, needing to drive 4 hours for an overnight near Wirral to get the ferry; but no details from the hosts.

AirBnB were very good, understood we weren't leaving home without confirmed bookings, sent us alternatives as back up.

Unfortunately the original owner, last minute, confirmed, after I'd already found far better, not much more expensive accommodation from their suggestions! 🙄

So we had to stick to the original booking which was OBVIOUSLY a post-divorce settlement house. 😬

They're probably holding out for longer bookings as it is a prime school holiday. I'd look elsewhere.
