Noriday contraceptive pill shortage - please help!

Hi everyone,
I have been using the progesterone only (mini pill) contraceptive pill NORIDAY for years now and am about to run out, but have been told by my GP surgery that there is a shortage of it and that it is not available for the next few months - due to something about import / export and manufacturing issues.

As I am down to my last few pills, I am a bit panicked as to how to continue with Noriday - I have looked at all online shops and it is out of stock.

I know there may be alternative progesterone only mini pills to Noriday, but my body works well with this pill and I dont want to try a new pill if possible due to possible side effects.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how I could access Noriday during a shortage? Like I said all the online pharmacys say it is unvailable and I dont know where to turn next......

I guess I am lucky it is only a contraceptive pill that is in shortage - I have heard right now, there are many other more important medications in short supply...

Not sure why,,,,,

Thank you

Have you looked on Superdrug's online doctor service? I buy my Cerazette on there since my GP started refusing to prescribe it and would only allow a generic or Cerelle (tried both, hated both).

Have you tried simplymedsonline, online pharmacy they have had items in stock when the local chemist hasn’t and fully registered.

Try Micronor pill instead? Edit - seems to have been discontinued, sorry

It is out of stock literally everywhere. We can’t get hold of it at all (sexual health) so I doubt you will find any as a member of the public.

There is very little you can do apart from switch to a different type until Noriday is available again.

I had the exact same problem , I tried a couple of different pills and they all sent me crazy , Noriday seemed to be the best , I couldn’t get any in December after trying for a few weeks and got the same response from my pharmacist, we had plans on stopping the pill and beginning our TTC journey in the early part of 2025 so we decided to take the opportunity and bring that forward a couple of months

I had the same issue and my GP had to issue me with an alternative prescription. It's only been a couple of weeks, so not totally sure about side effects but I did notice my period was heavier.

There's nothing else you can do until it is back in stock though.
