What is this on my nose?!

Hi

just wondered if anyone knows wtf this could be.

I noticed a red area of skin at the tip of my nose. I assumed it was a spot or boil but it didn’t come to this. I didn’t have any injuries or anything either. That was over 4 weeks ago and it’s still not got better.

it’s really hard to explain what it is like (I’ve attached photos) it’s not a boil or cyst or lump or pimple or infection. But at the same time, it’s also not redness on the top of my skin (eg it’s not eczema or irritation and the skin isn’t dry or inflammed ) it just feels like a normal bit of skin which has suddenly turned red.

does anyone have any idea what would cause this? I’ve got a family history of skin cancer (melanoma and another relative who lost her nose due to a particularly nasty rodent ulcer ) but I’m young (20s) and healthy and it doesn’t look like the signs they tell you to watch for with skin cancer (eg it’s not dark, not bleeding, not crusty etc) it’s just suddenly gone red and not got better for a month now.

i’m going to go to the gp but in the meantime does anyone have any idea what this could be?!

Not to alarm you, but this sounds very similar to my mum's melanoma she recently had removed. She had no itching or change in skin texture. Just the colour. Please get seen quickly

It may be nothing, but best to insist they are thorough with you.

P. S can't see photos.

Sorry, for some reason the photos wouldn’t upload - think it’s worked now though, They should be attached here (and apologies, because of the angle of the photo it was incredible unflattering up my nose so I’ve scribbled that out, haha)

I have had two patches of Actinic keratosis on my nose... just red and slightly thickened skin on one patch and a tad scaly on the other. They are precursors to skin cancer. GP gave me cream that burned them away.
I have another now but not got back to the GP yet (fair freckly skin)
Pop to the GP and show them , they never mind looking at skin (my DD1 is a GP and says they are the easiest conultations!)

Start with your pharmacist. They usually qualified to diagnose skin problems.
