I joined a company as a head of department. I thought if anything I'd get more recruiter messages via LinkedIn but NO every single one is about selling me something. So I'm starting to tell them to get lost as soon as they message me because they also sometimes disguise them as focus groups and those are a massive waste of time. (Originally thought they'd be good for networking but boy I was wrong!!)

Not as bad as actual scam emails trying to get access to your bank account.

Or phone calls supposedly from your mobile phone supplier offering discounts

Or text messages saying your penalty charge notice is due....when you don't even drive.....

So not cold calls then but LI messages?
I think you can set your profile so that you can't get unsolicited messages BUT LI is a major selling tool for many many companies now - in fact for some its their main/only one, its not just about networking anymore. In fact LI Navigator is largely sold as sales tool

I get calls too, but not as many. Thank goodness I have a work phone and nobody really calls apart from people trying to sell me something so I simply ignore.
