We have quartz. I really like it. We’re careful and don’t put hot pans / hot baking trays directly onto it and we’ve had no problems with it. Would choose it again.

We have granite (didn’t choose it, the previous owners did) and once I got used to how unforgiving it is I’ve really liked it. I think it’s more durable than quartz (but may not be cheaper!).

We changed a horrid laminate for quartz. Best thing ever.

Mine looked pretty until it gained a big purple ring on it. I still don’t know what did it but nothing is shifting it

BlueMum16 · 10/11/2024 19:01

We have a dark grey, almost black quartz with white cupboards.

I absolutely love the quartz, easy to clean and looks fab.

With hindsight I wish I'd gone for dark cupboards and light cream quartz. I think it would have reflected the light better in my dark kitchen.

I love my quartz, so easy to clean compared to granite which I had previously.

Not for the poor buggers with serious lung diseases from cutting them

I was just about to come on to the thread and mention that.
I actually thought the OP was alluding to those people suffering with serious lung issues due to their work cutting quartz counter tops. Sad

Curtainqueen · 10/11/2024 19:16

There are some provinces in China where entire villages all have lung disease from the quartz mining industry. Some scary statistics involved.

SabreIsMyFave · 10/11/2024 19:19

Do people really have kitchen worktops made of quartz?! Confused Actual QUARTZ?!

I have lead such a sheltered life!
