Husband cleans his mucky boots in the bath.

My husband has a habit of rinsing off his muddy boots in the bath, leaving me the lovely job of cleaning bits of mud and grass out of the plug hole. While that’s not a pleasant job, what worries me more is that I don’t know how much mud is going down the plug hole and potentially blocking up the pipe that drains water from the bath (which is another problem I would be left to deal with!)

I have repeatedly asked my husband not to rinse his boots in the bath, and explained why, but he still does it. I found another load of mud and grass in the plug hole again yesterday, so I calmly said, “You’ve rinsed your muddy boots in the bath again, haven’t you? Can you please stop doing that, it’s not pleasant for me to have to clean muck out of the plug hole, and I’m worried the mud will build up in the pipe and block the drain.” Since then, he’s gone into a sulk, and has barely spoken to me.

Am I being unreasonable?

Get him a bucket to rinse outside
that is so unfair of him especially to leave the cleaning up of it to you

If he wants to do that he needs to be the one who is thoroughly cleaning the bath afterwards

Is he mad?! He's sulking at you because he left a mess for you to clean?! FFS.

There is a watering can and a brush outside and I've suggested he could use those to clean his boots, but he still cleans them in the bath. 🙄

Get an outdoor hot tap. Its gross washing them in the bath. I’m in a walking group and no-one bothers washing their boots. They only get caked in mud again

That is gross!

I remember cleaning the bathroom once and my ex coming back in dirty boots. I said you’ve made the floor muddy I’ve just cleaned that. “clean it again then” was his words. Hence the use of the word “ex”!
