Urgent genital skin clinic

Not an AIBU but shamelessly posting for traffic

I've been referred urgently to the genital skin clinic for a patch of extra skin in the perineal area. I can't see it but I can feel it. Apparently it's white in colour and although it could be lichen sclerosis, the consultant who fitted my IUD strongly felt there are likely to be precancerous if not cancerous cells. She said it definitely needs a biopsy to diagnose it.

My question is, when I go to the clinic, will they do a biopsy on the day?

There's a lichen sclerosis FB group - lots of knowledgeable people there. Good luck.

With my squamous cell skin cancer they didn’t just biopsy, they removed the whole lot at my first appointment.

LS is just something to keep an eye on though, it’s not as scary as actual cancer. I’m also awaiting a non urgent referral for the same thing!

She looked at it and said it could be LS but she felt it probably was cancer.

Can you tell me a little bit more about what happened at your appt please? Was it painful after removal?

In may 2023 I went to the GP with what felt like piles.. the GP said it was an anal fissure or anal skin tag. And I was referred. They keep writing to me saying I'm on the waiting list.

To my knowledge, this "thing" was the same thing but the consultant who inserted the IUD said this wasn't anything like that and it was white in colour so it's unclear whether the anal fissure shrunk and this grew after or whether this was the same thing in the first place and it's changed over the past 1.5 years

When I've looked at LS photos on google it always tends to be just discoloured skin rather than any "extra" skin. Mine is like an extra growth. She said it was between the anus and vagina so in the perineal area
