To be very proud (and a total hypocrite)

I always thought these things are a bit pointless but today my 10 year old is my only child to get a pen license! He is the youngest of 5 and none of his siblings got one.

He has autism and struggles with so many things. I see his cousin the same age effortlessly doing things I wish he could. But this thing he has managed.

And although I always thought these things were nearly as pointless as attendance awards, I am so proud of my son for achieving it.

You should be proud Smile it is a great achievement !
(I have an adult son with autism and we also really appreciate the wins!)

Sorry to ask....what's a pen license??

It's a thing they get in primary schools in England when they have neat enough writing that they can go from pencil to pen!

Well done to your son op👏

It's a recognition of how well they're doing with handwriting so they can now write in pen.
It's great that he's achieved this and you are entitled to be proud of him - take the wins!

Either my DC ever got one. I remember well their angst at the time. Doubt they even remember now. 😂

Allnewtometoo · 08/11/2024 18:19

@Butteredtoast55@Dariamar thank you! My DCs school don't do this so had no idea!

Well done to your son OP 👏

Libertysparkle · 08/11/2024 18:22

Well done to your son!

Whoop Whoop! Well done to your son!

Side note: it's a good thing they didn't have this when I was younger... pretty sure I'd still be writing in pencil 😆

lightsandtunnels · 08/11/2024 20:12

How lovely! Well done to your DS - you are rightly proud of him 😍

elliejjtiny · 09/11/2024 11:39

Thank you everyone. I'm just so proud of him. Meanwhile he isn't really sure what all the fuss is about. He was much more excited about doing messy play with "Brown stuff" at school yesterday.
