...to be this anxious about a school trip issue

Hi MN,
I'm literally in bits over this. My anxiety is bad at the best of times.
DS & myself have had a horrendous year, DS started secondary school & is doing well.
It's just us two.
There's a big school trip next year & I've been saving so that he can go on it. He is so excited.
Today parents/carers have been told that their child has a place.
I've not had the email & I just checked the online platform & it says form not submitted.
I know I completed the online form & remember doing it. Am terrified he won't get able to go now. Deadline was two weeks ago,
I plan to call the school in the morning (have just emailed as well)
AIBU to feel this anxious? If it's a technical error do you think they might still allow him to go?
I'm so upset & angry with myself that I didn't double check that the school received the form.
Anyone ever experienced similar & it's been ok? 😭

I think it will depend our they are limited on numbers and the trip is full. All you can do is ask tomorrow and see what is said. Good luck.

What a nightmare! I always screenshot online forms as my anxiety is crazy about things like this. Hopefully it's a glitch and it will be sorted in the morning. Good luck.

Please don't beat yourself up OP,these things happen. I'm sure the school will be understanding. Sleep well

Gently, it's unlikely if it was a popular trip that they will have a space if they did not receive your form.

But, you've nothing to lose by asking. I've done the same thing before - convinced I'd submitted the form for a trip. Nope, school didn't get it. But the trips are usually oversubscribed so it's an easier let down to tell your child they did not get a place. Your school may have a reserve list incase anyone drops out.

You can't win with anxiety, can you? If you had checked they had received the form, you would have been scolding yourself for being anxious.

Kids drop out all the time, get yourself on the waiting list asap.

Thank you everyone who's responded.
I'm actually feeling a bit calmer from reading your replies.
I don't think it's a trip that has a limit on numbers so maybe if I just offer to pay the whole thing tomorrow (that's what overdrafts are for, right?) it might be ok.
Cross your fingers for me 🫣

I've read this exact post before.

Fingers crossed for you OP, I had a similar utter panic the other week, my heart was absolutely racing until I found the parent pay receipt email for my DD’s trip!
