Suspended sentence for sexual assault

Just been reading the news while I have my coffee.

Have read of two separate court cases both where a man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a woman, one who was only 17 and they both got a 2 year sentence suspended for a year

It’s really made me angry. There should be zero tolerance for this type of offence. I don’t understand why people who do this aren’t sent straight to jail?

I agree with you but I suspect the bottom line of it is that there simply isn’t enough space in jail to put all of these people.

Yep, that's how it is now. No one is being sent to prison unless there's absolutely no other option. Did you miss the news of all the prisoners being released early? It's not right and I don't agree with it, but that's the situation.

So that may be why then. So realistically they should be in jail but because there’s no space they’re not. What a bloody mess.
