Me but I’m jealous if you’re in London

AvidHazelFinch · 04/11/2024 17:13

Where are you from?

Me! It’s the darkness I think. Feeling down, depressed and paralysed at the minute. Always hate the clocks changing.

SallyWD · 04/11/2024 17:38

I'm feeling worn out and run down lately. Not sure why. I had last week off work and have been sleeping well. Maybe the weather, maybe my age and perimenopause...

Needmorelego · 04/11/2024 18:08

Yeah....I do sometimes.
I'm in London too. It's miserable when it starts getting dark early. Buses always feel stuffy and crawl along slowly in the traffic. It seems to be permanently drizzling.
It's just gone 6 and I quite easily could go to bed now.

lyingonthebeach · 04/11/2024 18:55

I've been in bed since 4.30. I just can't stand it! 4 weeks till I go to Cyprus to soak up sun and light!

Lavenderfields21 · 04/11/2024 20:07

Me. In London. From South Africa (although been here 20 years).

BitOutOfPractice · 04/11/2024 20:08

Absolutely everyone at work today - including me - has been sighing, yawning, moaning. It’s like an epidemic. I hate this time of year.

AvidHazelFinch · 04/11/2024 21:54

Jealous! Enjoy your holiday

I do, but because I've got some sort of flu thing that won't shift. Had a week off and still had to call in sick this afternoon.

I like the weather though, it's not actually that cold yet but early morning is crisp. It's been the only thing keeping me a bit human this past few weeks. Early morning walk at dawn with the dogs, late ride of an evening with the horse. I'm rural though, so appreciate London might not feel as nice.

I lived in Leeds and Liverpool when I was younger and used to find nice walking locations. I have SAD, and I figured out if I left the lights on and made the house look cosy after a long walk in the cold, I'd tend to feel a bit more invigorated. It's annoying because I love the winter. My brain chemicals or whatever it is doesn't, so it's a battle to make body and mind work in sync.

IdaPrentice · 04/11/2024 22:15

My recommendation is: take vitamin D! We're all deficient in the winter months.

AvidHazelFinch · 04/11/2024 22:17

I'm aneamic. Found out my blood is at 5 when it's supposed to be at 13 for women.

Have you been given anything for it? I'm also anaemic and iron infusions helped, though did take a while to kick in. Also had a blood transfusion when I was younger. I can't remember how low you have to be now for iron IV, I think it's 3? Are you on tablets and things?

AvidHazelFinch · 04/11/2024 22:24

I'm on tablets again yes. I hope things get back to normal for me soon, I can't seen to have any energy to get out of bed fir now. It's making me feel depressed and u can't take care of my baby

hazelnutvanillalatte · 04/11/2024 22:24

Me :( relationship suddenly ended over the weekend, but I have to keep going for the kids. I am not usually a down sort of person but I'm really feeling it now and it's scary because I don't have anyone to rely on, I just have children who rely on me.

RampantIvy · 04/11/2024 22:25

The low light levels make me feel unmotivated.

I wonder how long it will be before the many weird summer haters post on here saying how much they love the miserable weather?

If that's ferritin it should be at least 30, not 13, so 5 is very low.

Do you have support at home, a partner, etc.? It's very hard, but if you're feeling like you can't get up I'd go back to the GP and pester them. I find they can be quite dismissive in terms of anaemia in women, you need to be pushy.

Agree with this.

The weather have been great where I live, it’s warm for the time of year but very autumnal. The dark nights have started to make me feel a little bit meh this week though.

Needmorelego · 08/11/2024 17:58

This is what I hate about this time of the year...
