No don't throw it away. It's part of your DC's history. He may be an arsehole but he's still their father.

Could you maybe keep some of the photos, especially ones of family that may no longer be around? For example my sister's wedding is the last photos we have of my Uncle that died (accident) a few months later.

It is a historical record with pictures of a lot of others.

If it’s going to be cathartic for you to get rid of it, and/or having the record hanging around is painful to you, then go for it. If it’s not bothering you, and you think the kids might like to see it one day, then hang onto it. You’re not obliged to keep it. It’s a question only you can answer really.

I did, not long after I threw out the useless pos I married. I've never regretted it (binning either of them).

LonelyInDville · 03/11/2024 23:43

I would toss it but I toss anything that an ex has given me, don’t want any reminders of them.

I wish my mother had not burned all her wedding photos as I would have liked to have seen them and kept them.

TinDogTavern · 03/11/2024 23:50

Bin it, unless your kids are in the pictures, then maybe keep the ones they're in. You don't need to keep mementoes of a marriage that wasn't a happy one.

I threw mine away fairly recently. I had kept it for my son (who has been abandoned by his sperm donor), but he said it just upset him so I took it to the tip and chucked it in the paper recycler and it felt marvellous.

Can you scan the pictures and save them onto a memory stick, so they can be retrieved in years to come if wanted, then you are free to bin the physical album
