Going through perimenopause and heavy periods. My hair is dry, rough and I lost almost 50% volume in the last 6-8 months.

I’ve changed my diet, added multivitamins etc. I’d also like to switch my shampoo. Appreciate recommendations for reasonably priced (as cheap as possible) parablen free sulphate free shampoos please!!

I like Umberto Giannini and also Cantu - but my hair is curly/ wavy. It tends towards dry.
Morrocan Oil products are good. I tend to let mine dry naturally if I have the time, and always use a protection cream / spray if I am using heat.

All Ogx shampoos and conditioners are paraben and sulfate free. £7.50 a bottle.

Try Faith in Nature. I can't use fragranced products. Out of all the affordable unfragranced products, I find them the best for dry, frizzy hair.

Try www.curlsbot.com for checking for ingredients that dry your hair out.

I use a shampoo bar from Sainsbury's. Eco Clary sage and eucalyptus I think. Can't remember how much but not too expensive.

AgreeableDragon · 03/11/2024 16:32

Faith in Nature. Its often on offer in the Grape Tree and supermarkets

SLS is very drying. This may be beneficial if your hair is greasy but mine is on the dry side of normal and I find SLS free shampoos much better. Also SLS strips out colour so may wish to avoid if you colour your hair.

Johnson’s Baby Shampoo works for me! Lovely and gentle for my frizzy, middle-aged hair. I save on shampoo and buy a nice conditioner!

I don't know about parabens but there's a pink one in Superdrug and Tesco called Monday that's sulphate free.

KeepYaHeadUp · 03/11/2024 21:27

Monday is great. I bought it because it was on offer and I liked the bottle. It's also excellent shampoo and conditioner. Just happens to be SLS and paraben free

Noughty shampoos have no nasties!

Wordau · 03/11/2024 21:38

I've used Noughty Clarifying shampoo, Monday, and Tigi Moisture Maniac and I think they all fit the bill.

I like them all but think Monday is the nicest container.

Faith in Nature trashed my hair and dried my scalp out awfully. I only tried the Lavender and the Grapefruit ones, maybe others are better? They smell good though.

Miniml do a shampoo and conditioner that comes in 1L refill bags that aren't very expensive. Sorry can't remember how much! But it works out well and they are good ingredients wise.

Holland and barratts sell a brand called dr orgánics which is sls free and very reasonably priced

Dotto · 03/11/2024 22:27

Seconding Johnson's baby

Another recommendation for Faith in Nature from me.

Clickncollect · 03/11/2024 22:34

I use Palmers Cocoa Butter Shampoo and Conditooner, sometimes the Coconout one. I have the brazilian keratin treatment so have to have sulphate/paraben free.

Newname85 · 04/11/2024 18:05

Thanks all ! I’m going grocery shopping in a minute. Will check out your recommendations

Another one for Faith in Nature. I get it on Amazon subscription, but TK Maxx have it on offer now.

I've started using the faith in nature shampoo bars and conditioners/ no parabens. Vegan. Cruelty free.

Not exactly sure on ingredients but I use Child's Farm baby shampoo. I am extremely sensitive to shampoos, and this works well for me.
