How do you celebrate a non-Christmas?

This year my brother and his wife will be visiting my SIL’s side on Christmas Day. My dad is working on Christmas Day so we decided to celebrate Xmas on boxing day.

This will mean that most likely on Christmas it will only be my mum, younger sister and myself.

I’m just wondering how to make the day special.

My mum has gone in to the local Indian and confirmed they will be open on the 25th. I was thinking posh pyjamas, some treats from a fancy bakery (there is a coconut cake to die for) and champagne. We are close to London so I could pick up some special treats.

I’ve told everyone I don’t mind but tbh I am genuinely a little upset that Christmas is a bit of a non event this year. I doubt the ‘make up day’ will have that same magical feeling.

Could you try to do what you would usually do on Christmas Eve instead so it gives you a normal festive build up to Christmas Day which means you won’t notice it being a day later?
