To thinks I’ve messed up badly

I live in the country side and people regularly fly tip rubbish in our garden. Someone left an old travel cot and buggy there last week. I put them in my boot fully intending to take the up the dump but completely forgot. Went to do the grocery shopping tonight and realised they were still there so I put them in a biffa waste bin on the industrial estate next to the supermarket. When I got home and told dh he told me it was illegal! I literally had no idea so I went back to see if I could get them out but the bin was too deep. What should I do now. Should I phone someone and try to explain it just hope nothing comes of it?

Don't know if it's illegal but get cameras outside your house or at least signs saying your property is protected by cameras, should put people off.

Keep an eye on your local council's website.

Ours has something called 'The wall of shame' where the council posts all the CCTV images of people getting rid of their rubbish this way, in the hope people will contact them with names/addresses to send the fines to.

If they do similar and you haven't made it on there, you're probably ok unless they can trace you through your car reg?
