AIBU to ask the collective power of MN to help me find a table, or list and point me to the source website for the UK average rental price, by property size, for August 2024?

I've looked on the ONS site and the Gov UK site and think I'm getting close, then get lost in .xls downloads.
I just want a table that shows the average rental price, by one bed, 2 bed, 3 bed and larger.

If not for the UK, then for England alone will work too.

IABU - do it yourself. You have the internet at your fingertips and should apply yourself to this small job.

IANBU - use the collective skill of MN to help solve a small data request that's already taken up 2 hours of your day.

Thanks for any help, and links, you can find.

Now off to make a cup of tea, before I send my resignation in (that's light-hearted, well the resignation bit)

Is this for work or are you looking for a flat or to rent one out?

WheresFluffy · 01/11/2024 10:51

It's for a discussion I am having, about renting property or purchasing property.
I've found the UK average house prices by property types, now looking for rental equivalent.

Simply, I mentioned in the discussion that there should be a rental averages table similar to the property purchase table.

Does that help?

August 2024 is too recent for official statistics, they have to go through a process of validation before release.

You are more likely to find figures for August 2023. I'm away from my laptop at the min or i would look.

Ooohhh, good point thanks.
In which case, the latest UK average rental cost by room size.

The house price index is showing Aug 2024, so I just thought if there's a rental one, that the date would be the same! 🙄

Data collection will be very different for rented. Purchases are all recorded via the land registry so the data is already in one place. Presumably rental data has to be via survey or something, so will be slower and less comprehensive.

I hope you win your argument!
