NHS orthodontost shutting with immediate effect

AIBU to be absolutely fuming?

Day after the budget and the pornise of increases funding for the NHS I get a text from the orthodontist saying they are shutting with immediate effect due to a lack of funding for NHS patients

So now I have two children mid treatment and have been told to wait for a letter from the NHS to reallocate them a dentist. I already have to pay for their private dentist for checkups etc and I bet I end up having to fund this to get the treatment finished now.

If you look at the promises for healthcare dentistry is not mentioned at all and all dental initiatives announced are based on zero funding increase.

In fact as dentists/orthodontists are small businesses the increase in National Insurance and minimum wage will add another pressure to keeping open , and with dental students graduating now with £80,000 to £100,000 debt the increase in fees will also make another pressure.

Now the election is over I cannot see the government putting the extra funding into dentistry and in most areas where dentists are handing contracts back the money has been used to prop up other services rather than reinvested in dentistry.

You are not being unreasonable but dentistry has been in crisis for decades and over several governments . There is not the money or will to fix it.
