To ask for party tips if you hate throwing parties?!

Halloween. Open-house type affair with neighbours. Mulled cider & beers. I love the idea (we have a beautiful house which is perfect for entertaining) but I’m not great at relaxing; I worry about mess etc. I’m forcing myself because I think I’ll regret it when I’m older if I don’t do a few of these things. What’s the point of a beautiful house if you never have guests?!

So any tips?

I looked at floor covers but I’m worried the adhesive will ruin our hardwood floors!

You’re worried about people making a mess? Or judging if the house is messy? Sounds like the former if you are worrying about floor covers. Try to relax a bit! Adults don’t normally go round spilling drinks everywhere! If there are children make a rule theh are to have their food and drink in the kitchen. We love parties! As soon as guests leave we try and blitz the mess so dishwasher loaded and I always hand wash a load of glasses and leave them drying in the rack and on tea towels. That way at least when you get up in the morning it isn’t so bad.

Keep It simple:
buffet style food and drinks
Food stays in the kitchen
no kids upstairs
Have fun!

@Mishmashs yes sorry, I’m worried about people making a mess!! You’re right though. There won’t be many kids coming to be honest so mostly adults, and I’m not really doing food (few nibbles out)!
