Shauna2866 · 30/10/2024 18:58

Currently just finished the first part of the bowel prep for my colonoscopy tomorrow 🤢🤮 omg it’s absolutely vile I had to do this back in may this year as my calpro came back at 700! But wasn’t having any off the symptoms then so nothing was seen and no biopsy’s taken but for the last 6 weeks I have been in a mess with bloody lose stools blood on its own urgency this morning I had urgent like every morning literally I can only be awake for 5 mins and I need to go the pain is awful and it’s weird it’s just pure blood 🩸 and then 20 mins later I’ll have lose bowels with blood
anyway I’ll see what happens tomorrow no recent calpro test been taken as doctor said pointless it’s been raised with each test so now I’ll see what happens absolutely terrified 😭 x

I'm sorry to hear this. My son was diagnosed with Crohns recently via a camera. He was given an 8 week course of steroids which were very effective at stopping his symptoms and helping him put on weight which he desperately needed.

I hope you get the answers you need and the treatment you need.

Shauna2866 · 30/10/2024 19:21

@Winter2020 aww thank you I hope everything is okay too I panic incase it could be C but I have not long had one and they said everything looked good
so don’t know …
glad your son is now feeling better I can’t wait to feel normal feel very weak
what symptoms was your son experiencing

Kellythekidd · 30/10/2024 19:23

Colon cancer is slow growing so a positive that you had a clear colonoscopy recently thinking of you

Shauna2866 · 30/10/2024 19:25

@Kellythekidd oh really that’s good to know so it would of shown then in may ?
sorry I’m a worrier and I’m sitting at home panicking doesn’t help that I lost my mum to C 3 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ x

You sound like me, I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis

Mary46 · 30/10/2024 19:26

You poor thing. Dreading this in nov trying not to think about it. God awful as you say..

Shauna2866 · 30/10/2024 19:31

@Namechange5555555555 what was your symptoms?
it’s awful 6weeks I’ve been like this x

@Mary46 do you have a upcoming colonoscopy? Hope it all goes well for you x

OP posts:
Mary46 · 30/10/2024 19:38

Yes. My gut is sluggish they want to check bladder wall too. Thanks

LovedFedAndNoonesDead · 31/10/2024 08:03

Good luck today.

I've just had a positive qfit result (result was 45; report on NHS app states it’s “above high reference range”) absolutely no bowel symptoms, test was done because I’m anaemic (ferritin 8, Hb 114). Now been referred under 2WW colorectal cancer pathway for colonoscopy and endoscopy to find cause. Am not looking forward to the tests and even less looking forward to the prep for it. Currently waiting for the endoscopy department to call me to book it.

Shauna2866 · 30/10/2024 19:25

sorry I’m a worrier and I’m sitting at home panicking doesn’t help that I lost my mum to C 3 years ago 🤦🏻‍♀️ x

My qfit was over 400 normal is between 1-9

I was convinced I had bowel cancer...I didn't even have a polyp three hemorroids

it's extremely unlikely it would have grew in a matter of months thinking of you

Shauna2866 · 31/10/2024 10:30

@Kellythekidd oh really yeah I bet you was worried glad your all okay now ..
my frettin levels have come back at 10 so low but my haemogoblim or how ever you spell it has come back within normal range and my white blood count is raised dreading this today it’s the unknown I hate it !

@Shauna2866

Hopefully you'll get some answers today.

My fit test was 200. I had multiple polyps.

Swissrollover · 31/10/2024 10:56

Good luck today! I was on another thread of yours. Hope you get the results today and are started on treatment immediately. Probably steroids to begin with and they really help quite quickly. When you can, please let us know how you got on.

Auburngal · 31/10/2024 11:01

Had 4 colonoscopies in 17 months. I much preferred Plenvu as the prep for not as drinking as much fluid over Moviprep. As I felt so bloated drinking too much liquid in a short space.

Found about 18 polyps - largest 15mm, average of the rest 5.5mm.

Also its interesting to see that different NHS trusts have a different diet plan. My NHS trust - no fruit and veg at all and some allow hm soups with no bits, skin etc. Google colonoscopy diet sheets and get many NHS trusts having PDFs online.

Shauna2866 · 31/10/2024 11:53

What I’m worried about is because low fretttin can be caused by cancer I’ve seen and omg I know I should not worry but I’m panicking well shaking 🫨 not looking forward to this appointment but I have to do cos I have 3 small babies here who need me .
I do just keep saying I have just had a colonoscopy in may this year and not even one polyp was there it was clear but never took biopsies this is why I’m back I’ll find out soon I’ll update once I have been seen x

Shauna2866 · 31/10/2024 18:49

Hi all quick update ….

went in for colonoscopy didn’t have the sedation as I was driving and I had no one to come with me
it was fine I thought it was gonna be agony but managed well on G/A!

no signs of cancer no polyps
but the inside is red raw he said it looks very inflamed he took around 14 biopsies said they will take 2-4 weeks to come sometimes longer
I have been prescribed some rectal meds forgot the name now but it says on the form
diagnosis: mucosal inflammation protists.
but of course have to wait for the biopsies to come back to see for definite
thank you for all your help just relieved it’s not the big C ! X

OP posts:
Shauna2866 · 31/10/2024 18:50

Sorry just seen he took 18 biopsies x

OP posts:
Swissrollover · 31/10/2024 20:24

I wonder if protists is actually "proctitis". This could indicate an IBD diagnosis. I hope the meds provide some relief soon. No big C - 😃!

Shauna2866 · 31/10/2024 20:29

@Swissrollover yes that’s what I meant proctitis!
predicted text …..
I’ll wait and see what the biopsies say

OP posts:
Namechange5555555555 · 01/11/2024 19:16

So it is ulcerative colitis then x

Shauna2866 · 02/11/2024 07:06

@Namechange5555555555 not sure ? He said wait on biopsies ? But did put that where it says diagnosis: proctitis
he did say it could chrons or colits but said he’s not sure so just hold on and wait for results
I can’t get hold of the meds they prescribed me from anywhere one of the pharmacy said they have been discontinued just my luck when I need them !
so had to call hospital back up and they have prescribed me a new prescription but can’t get that till Monday !
and I’m in pain still 🤦🏻‍♀️ I can’t wait to feel normal again the urgency in the morning I get is awful sometimes I can’t even make it to the toilet ! X

OP posts:
Namechange5555555555 · 02/11/2024 09:59

It does sound very much like ulcerative colitis. I was initially diagnosed with proctitis to, then a week or so later they confirmed uc.

what meds did they initially prescribe and what have they replaced to?

Shauna2866 · 02/11/2024 14:06

@Namechange5555555555 Not sure what he is going to replace me on as I haven’t got the new prescription yet I go and collect it Monday from the treatment centre.
yeah he did say he think it could be ulcerative colitis but can’t be 100% until biopsy’s come back
how long do they take ?!
does it vary ?

It was very quickly - but it was a long time ago so things may have changed.

I developed it a few months after the birth of my eldest dd, apparently it isn’t uncommon.

My advice to you right now is to cut out dairy, makes a big difference. Be very strict with what you eat. Do not eat veg that isn’t cooked through properly. Only eat root vegetables, no leafy greens etc. No beans or pulses, no brown breads, seeds or nuts.

Eat any lean meat you want, eggs, white pasta and rice.

When you get your flare under control you don’t need to be as strict so don’t panic. But I would stay away from milk for good
