Would I be unreasonable to throw up or be alarmed about my small child after they spat this gross thing out of a cup of hot chocolate?

That's horrifying. Homemade hot chocolate or out of the house?

MalvernHillbilly · 29/10/2024 18:46

Homemade. Vegan hot chocolate powder with oat milk. I’ve checked the powder & the milk - nothing unspeakable found.

Sorry OP, looks like you'll have to throw the child away

Pieceofpurplesky · 29/10/2024 18:51

Oat milk does get lumps but this looks more ... slug like

Stichintime · 29/10/2024 18:52

It does look slug like. Had you been outside beforehand?

🤣

If you don't shake oat milk throughly before use, it coagulates like this at the bottom of the carton.

Ewwww that looks like an ear 🤢

NeverDropYourMooncup · 29/10/2024 19:02

Don't be daft. It's what you get with the gloop that forms from ground oats when they absorb water and aren't shaken up enough - bet the chocolate was more Almost Cold Chocolate than Hot.

Animal innards and earholes, my arse.

This is what I needed to hear and what my rational brain was telling me. We have a prolific hunter in the house, though, and are regularly presented with dissected mice, rat samples and other such delicacies so it’s hard to be calm when your three-year-old spits out something not unlike a mouse intestine.

It looks like the skin, like when you heat it and it cools down you get a weird layer on the top. If you drink it it can feel a bit weird. Naturally google can explain it better than me!

Blackoutbeans · 29/10/2024 20:03

Well, that's me never drinking oat milk ever again 🤢

MalvernHillbilly · 29/10/2024 20:03

The milk wasn’t heated. I added boiling water to chocolate powder, stirred it until it seemed to have dissolved and the added oat milk.

Any chance that it could be hair? Have you dissected it?

Thelnebriati · 29/10/2024 20:36

My guess is that came out of the carton of oat milk; I now cut cartons open and decant the contents.
