I don’t usually start AIBU threads, but would welcome opinions on this.
I have been on Estriol for the last four years and have had repeater prescriptions for 80g tubes throughout. The General Practice pharmacist has reduced this to 15g tubes and it looks as though this will only last two to three weeks at best. This seems ridiculous for a medication which I assume I will need probably for the rest of my life or until something better comes along. When I queried it the pharmacist said that he never reduced the dosage but that the dispensing pharmacist had been giving me too much all these years. I now see from my NHS app that this has now been removed completely from my repeat prescriptions!
I suppose this is as much a rant about the practice pharmacist behaving in what seems a very high-handed way to me. Surely 80g of Estriol is a reasonable amount to prescribe for something that I need long-term? And why remove it from my repeats all together just because I queried it? For the record, I am exempt from prescription charges so the state isn’t saving anything with these smaller amounts.
Is this usual? AIBU to think that the GP pharmacist shouldn’t have done this? I am now going to have to get an appointment with my GP to get this prescription reinstated. I am so frustrated 😩
