It's about the summer of 1976. Populated as I now know by people who were teenagers or young adults then.

Lots of comments about chasing fillies, appreciation of nurses washing cars in their bikinis, basically a lot of men on there are like Gene Hunt and Stan and Jack from On the Buses.

Am I just a ❄️?

YABU to post a FB group link. Who cares?

Alwayssomethingtheretoremindme · 28/10/2024 22:29

It's a private group. Are you trying to.get people to join it?

No I'm not! I joined it and have now unjoined because of the content. It was a public group when I joined.

I was a teenager then. A really hot summer. It was great.

No idea what you're talking about OP.

So many of the posts are sexist. Obviously people can't see the page so it's a bit of a nothing thread then I guess.

I've recently joined and all I've seen is people asking what music you remember

Well yes without actually seeing what's being said it's difficult to judge. And I'm not joining it just to see if I'm offended.
But i will say your OP makes it sound like a Carry On film appreciation society and I can't stand Carry On films so I'll assume you are right about it being misogynistic.

You’d have to post screenshots 🤷🏻‍♀️

Not sure about the group itself, but Facebook is full of posts from accounts called things like "When Britain Was Great" saying "Eeeeee, things aren't as good as when I were a lad, you could <insert all kinds of behaviours that are no longer acceptable> and nobody minded, it was all good clean fun, none of this woke nonsense", and then a bunch of people with a Reform UK logo in their profile chime in with escalating degrees of obnoxiousness. If you're lucky it can take more than an hour before the first person suggests machine-gunning small boats in the Channel.

Here's a homework task. Go and watch the works of Bill Hicks and Richard Pryor. Then let's chat.

I was a teenager then, equiv Yr9. It was a slightly more sexist time but I didn’t especially encounter it. The 80s were somehow more uncomfortable, big contrasts between wealth and regular people and horrid Thatcherism in yer face all the time.

They probably also miss being able to spank their secretary on the arse and whatever other behaviour they fondly recollect from ‘the good old days’ where ‘women were women and men were men’.
