To ask your best vacuum recommendations for long hair?

Our current vacuum is just not doing the job any longer. We have myself and 2 teenage girls in the house, who seem to shed more than a yeti! Please tell me your best recommendations as our hair just seems to destroy all of ours (think we're on our 4th in the last 9 years!).
Thanks

Shark cordless anti-hair wrap, it has things in the bottom that move and separate so the hair gets sucked up but don’t wrap round the roller.

purpledagger · 26/10/2024 19:04

second the shark.

TyneTeas · 26/10/2024 19:12

Yep shark.

I’m all about the Henry Hoover, with the “Pet” attachment. I have bad PP hair loss and also a chow chow (dog) so hair is my enemy!

Agree with the shark hoover as above but the corded one instead of the cordless one

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/10/2024 00:13

I bought a Shark Stratos corded recently . my previous vacuum is always clogging with hair that I have to painstakingly cut off . The roller doesn't pick up so well now , but the price of replacing these things Shock

So far so good , I'll do DD room tomorrow to give it a proper test run ,

Henry hoover. I made the mistake of investing into those real expensive Dyson hoovers. Piece of crap compared to me Henry!

cherish123 · 27/10/2024 00:33

Shark definitely have best suction. They are great. Used to have Dyson but am now completely converted to Shark.

Sundaysunshine21 · 27/10/2024 00:35

agree with shark cordless. My hair gets everywhere and has destroyed every other vacuum it’s come into contact with, but had the shark for about a year now and it’s holding up well.

RM2013 · 27/10/2024 00:50

We have the shark after having a Dyson for years. Was shocked how much it picks up!!

Fraaahnces · 27/10/2024 01:41

Was going to recommend the Shark. We have one for me and my two daughters. They have hair like mermaids and we have a giant breed triple-coated dog. (What were we thinking?) Get one that chops up the hair as it goes into the brush. Stops it getting twisted and tangled. I can’t tell you the number of Dysons we murdered. Shark still going strong several years down the track.

Caerulea · 27/10/2024 01:49

Yes to the shark anti-hair thing. I've got really long hair (that is shedding like mad cos peri sucks) which tangled round my old Shark. This one is fine (though! The tank is small & clogs quite easily with dog hair & the cordless battery really does not last as they say)

Ginkypig · 27/10/2024 01:51

Yep shark anti hair wrap. My last two hoovers have been shark and iv been happy with both. Had vax and Dyson and Henry before too.

its not absolute that it will definitely never need hair cut off the roller the roller as Ihave had to do it a few times in the three years iv owned the latest one especially since menopause has caused my hair to start to really fall out, but it’s not nearly as bad as other hoovers iv had.

that being said though, iv got long hair and it’s far and away better than any Dyson or vax or other hoover iv had.

iv always gone for corded as they normally have stronger suction but that may not be as true as it was last time I bought one.

Thanks all. Looks like a Shark is the way to go
