...to ask if anyone can please help me in Solihull tomorrow?! Urgent!

Hi all

DS10 has decided on the one thing he wants for Christmas. It's relatively inexpensive and he's desperate for it, but only available from one store. It was released back in September and the company has really gone out of their way and helped me find the last one in stock (and it sadly won't be restocked as it was limited release). The problem is it in Solihull, and I'm in Leeds. They're able to hold it for me but only until tomorrow. I could drive there if it were next week but I've got no chance whatsoever of getting there and back tomorrow due to DS sports commitments. I was wondering if a lovely mumsnetter nearby with some free time tomorrow would be willing to pick it up and post it to me - I will pay extra for your time of course - you would make DS's Christmas. If anyone can help, please let me know! I would be eternally grateful.

Are they able to hold it for longer if you pay on the phone?

Could you Find someone to mind DS (skip the sport) and go and get it yourself?

Why can't you pay the store by credit card over the phone and have it sent to you?

I have asked, they can't do this. Their online stock is out. It's a big company.

Potentially if I can't get someone to help, but I think I'll struggle at short notice as most people I'd normally ask are working.

Thats called customer service and shops dont do this anymore

I had the same once with an item from Marks, they dont even ship between stores these days. Or reserve something in store.

You can’t pay over the phone, or, they can’t send it?

If it’s the latter get a courier to pick it up. I had to use one last year when I left my handbag in a hotel .. it’s not as expensive as you might think

No, they have said they don't have the ability to take payments over the phone :( their in-store stock and postable/warehouse stock you can buy online are totally separate.

Both. I will look into a courier but not sure how it would work as I need to pay for the item upon collection.

I asked if there was any way that Solihull could post to my local too, as they do click and collect if you buy online. They said no.

How old is DS? Would it spoil the magic if he skipped sport for this one week and you went together to collect the item?

Glad you are sorted OP 😊 for all those saying pay over the phone, most businesses of size don’t allow this any more due to the additional burden and cost it places on them to comply with PCI regulations and the massive risk of fraud when card details are given over the phone.
