Bloody Vinted! Empty Liberty Advent Calendars

piefacedClique · 24/10/2024 18:25

I’m trying to list two empty Liberty Advent Calendar boxes as I’ve seen them for sale before. In fact one sold this morning!
However my listing which is almost identically worded is being removed for being a banned item! I’ve appealed and sent screen shots of this mornings listing plus the page where it recommends a sale price based on other identical sales but I’m being told it violates their policy!

Arghh!!!! What am I doing wrong!

I don't think you can list used cosmetics on Vinted. Nothing that has been opened or isn't sealed.
Even though there are no cosmetics, it has been 'used' so might violate that policy?

piefacedClique · 24/10/2024 18:36

But surely many things on vinted are used. I don’t understand why others are allowed and mine isn’t.

Thee was an expose type show about the “dark side of Vinted” which featured a lab test on eyeshadows etc, on sale despite being against te rules. So they will have gone crazy and super tough on “cosmetics”. Can you list as Xmas Dec?

MillieMollyMandi · 24/10/2024 18:40

In the cosmetics category they are very strict.

Have you tried listing in the 'home - seasonal' or 'decorative' category? Might not be the best fit but also might not get deleted

MrJeremyFisher · 24/10/2024 18:42

Also, make sure you're using your own photo rather than one you've copied from the other listing.

piefacedClique · 24/10/2024 18:43

Yeah that’s where I’ve been listing it as holiday decor. It’s really p’ing me off. Especially as one sold today and that was allowed.

I once listed a baby freezer weaning tray. They said it was banned. Loads were on there!

FuckThePoPo · 24/10/2024 18:46

I was just going to bin mine but now I'm thinking maybe not! How much did it sell for

000EverybodyLovesTheSunshine000 · 24/10/2024 18:53

I listed a le creuset pepper mill.. loads on there, but they banned mine. Wouldn't have any argument either. I just stuck it on ebay for more & it sold.

watchuswreckthemic · 24/10/2024 18:56

I'd love to buy the other one if you make it work!!

StillAtTheRestaurant · 24/10/2024 18:58

Just put them in the recycling and move on with your life.

piefacedClique · 24/10/2024 19:05

Yeah I’ve listed in the decorations section and with own images. Time to remember my eBay password it looks like!

I had two identical Lego sets to sell and they would only let me list one, could it be that? I sold the first one waited a week and then listed the second one with no problem.

piefacedClique · 24/10/2024 19:27

Possibly although they are different designs. I even reported an identival item when mine was blocked only be told theirs was fine but mine not…. With the lovely message that implies don’t challenge my decision again or we will ban you 🤣🤣🤣

Maybe wait a few days and then try again with slightly different title and wording, and hope they don't give you a permanent ban!

EmBear91 · 24/10/2024 19:49

I’m confused why you would sell an empty cardboard advent calander…even more baffled why someone would buy it & pay shipping on top. The things people try and flog on Vinted is bonkers these days!

SBHon · 24/10/2024 19:54

I’ve just seen one listed. £15 for a decorative box is madness.

mmmmbloodygorgeous · 24/10/2024 19:58

wtf is this? A cardboard box? Literally a used advent calendar? Eh?

KingOfPeace · 24/10/2024 20:02

Selling the empties is really common. You just refill with sample sizes from eBay etc.

OP I think it's because you've listed 2 very similar items, makes you look like a scammer. Wait a week and list the other.

piefacedClique · 24/10/2024 20:16

Lots of people buy them actually… can fill them with your own trinkets or make nice storage boxes for jewellery etc. they really are very pretty actually and sturdy. I’ve listed them on eBay now so will see how that goes

Vinted is maddening for this. I was selling some kids bedding. They banned it for breach of policy after about a year of it being on sale, quoting a policy that said mattresses and duvets can't be sold. No amount of me explaining that I wasn't selling a mattress or duvet convinced them. Eventually emailed their legal email who quoted a different policy which did ban the sale of used bedding (but in a way which conflicted with the first policy). But of course loads of items identical for mine were also for sale.

They should make the policy clear at the point of listing. Obviously I'm not going to be trawling through help pages to find out if generic household items are inexplicably banned (fair enough to expect this if I was selling something a bit questionable but kids bedding does not fall in that category!).

SanDimasHighSchoolFootballRules · 24/10/2024 20:54

I got banned from Vinted for listing a counterfeit designer item. It was a genuine item and I followed all the advice they gave about photographing serial numbers etc. I tried for about a month to speak to them but only ever got their shit AI chat bot responses so I gave up.

I wouldn't mind but the whole site is awash with counterfeit designer items.

Yup! Absolute craziness Grin

cookiebee · 24/10/2024 20:59

I think old packaging like this is banned because people buy them, fill them with cheap shite and sell them on as the real deal. It’s trash, bin it and move on.
