Am I going to get into trouble for this ?! Work

I work in care sector and I started a couple of months ago. Had my enhanced DBS check back all fine. My employer did mention the update service before my certificate came back. It completely skipped my mind after that though. Now I’ve remembered them mentioning it and realised I’ve missed the 30 day window to apply for the update service. Am I going to get in trouble for this?! How important is it? I feel so silly, I’m still on probation!

Can you just contact the DBS check people and say you've realised you made a mistake and forgot to apply to the update service?

It's completely useless. It is supposed to be so that when you change the employer, your certificate can "travel" with you. In practice, though, I have never had mine accepted by the new employer and had to start the process all over again. I never pay the extra now.
It's completely irrelevant to your current role and entirely voluntary.

It just means you go through the process in 3 years time as if from scratch. Plus you can't take your dbs with you if you move jobs.

I don't subscribe to the update service it's not been an issue tbh. Plus if you move jobs you would be shadowing and training while your new one came through
