To have called police

30 minutes ago about neighbours who were screaming and making thudding noises , went on for about half an hour before I called. They have a toddler staying with them at the moment, one of their relatives kids, but no kids of their own

Police arrived very quickly and spent about 20 minutes there then left so presumably everything was OK?

You did the right thing. If it wasn't, they wouldn't have sent somebody ;)

Often even if they don't arrest anyone, the knock on the door and chat will calm things down (and hopefully give them both food for thought!)

You did the right thing. Think about how none of the neighbours phoned the police about Sara Sharif.

Thanks, not something I would normally do, so a bit unsettled

100% the right thing to do, poor child

Wittyapple · 23/10/2024 23:40

i wish my neighbours would have called the police when they heard abuse, and not just gossiped about it. We always question it after, but you did the right thing

Poor kid I know, it's a studio flat so no escape, but in reality what can the police so, he is just staying with them, don't know where his parents are

These threads, honestly.

Of course you weren't being unreasonable and you KNOW that.

If you just want to talk about it that's fair enough, because you're probably a bit shaken.

But there's no need to wrap it up as though you're seriously asking if YABU.

It's always better to be safe than sorry. I don't think the police ever mind reports like this and a probably just glad when they find nothing amiss. You did the right thing.

If that’s the case then Op definitely did the right thing in calling.
