To ask for tips on getting through a low mood day?

I have a day off today, but I’m feeling really low and unmotivated. I don’t want to waste the day feeling down, but I’m not sure how to lift my spirits. Does anyone have any tips or ideas for getting through a day like this? What helps you when you’re in a low mood?

when you booked the day off, what did you plan on doing?

Change your scenery in some way, or change up the energy.

That sounds really LinkedIn and pretentious the way I put it, but the principle I think is good.

It just means go and do something (it doesn't have to be 'productive') which is on your list that would either clear a problem, or bring you energy.

I find jumping on my bike, getting or into the car and going somewhere new, is great. I can explore and use my brain to take in sights, sounds and senses that then give me energy for the rest of the day.

Or, I'll just tackle something really horrible that I didn't want to do (such as painting the chair that's been sitting in the corner). Always usually feel better for getting it off the list.

What do you think of those @ArtfulHedgehog ?

Don't pressure yourself with fomo at the end of the day with could have done this and that.

Sometimes I book a day off just to literally rest.

Suggestions when low...
See what treats you have in or pop to the shop, get a hot bath or shower, moisturise, do a mask and get movies on. Get the comfiest things on you own!

Go for a walk, have a clear out, cook a nourishing meal

Read a book you havent had the energy to start around work

Call a friend for a catch up

Get youtube on the tv and do some yoga

Get up and shower and wash your hair. Wear something you like. If you wear make up, put a little on. Listen to music you like and sing along. Loudly. Do some big full body stretches and monkey swings. Say ALOUD- some positive affirmations about yourself.

Everytime you think something negative, say OUTLOUD, I am feeling good and I do good things.

Go for a walk, buy a magazine or newspaper.

Phone a friend or arrange to meet a mate?

Go to the library and get a new book to read.

Get out of the house. Either go and be in nature (woods, seashore?), or do something transporting, like a film matinee.

Get outdoors and then have a nice bath and shave and then get into bed with clean sheets
