Last Saturday afternoon I received a call from someone telling me they were calling from my bank to inform me someone had tried to use my card fraudulently. It was clear from the outset it wasn't my bank calling and I hung up, although they had the last four digits of my card, my email address and the town I live in (although it was pronounced wrongly and they had no idea where it was) I then telephoned my bank take sure. It was a hoax call.
Overnight Wednesday I get an official text from the bank telling me someone had attempted to use card in a restaurant in California. I call the bank in the morning and discover there has been another fraudulent attempt. Bank cancels.my card.
Tonight at around 8pm I get a call.from.a private number (I answer as I am in a job where I get occasional calls from the police who call on a private number). It's another hoax call pretending to be the bank. I tell them they're not and hang up. They call straight back and my husband answers. They call him.an arsehole and hang up. They call back, I answer and they call me a "dirty little.whore" before hanging up.
Husband did some digging and found.my.data on the dark web courtesy of a Lookiero hack earlier this year. Note, I'm not actually.a customer, I just filled in the first bit to see if I liked their stuff!
