Hi, Sorry, posting this here as I don't get many responses elsewhere.
I'm considering having another baby. I have 2 children (7&4). I developed epilepsy whilst pregnant with the second. One grande Mal seizure in my sleep, and then a fair few focal seizures during the first year after having my Daughter. Seizures have been controlled for 3 years now.
I really want another baby, but I can't risk having seizures again as I wouldn't be able to drive the kids to school etc if I have one. I'm also really worried about defects (I've heard cleft palette and spins bifida may happen), although I take lamotrigine and have been told this is the best medication and therefore far less likely to have any issues. If this was my first child, I wouldn't worry so much, but I'm worried that this could potentially have a massive effect on my kids if this were to all go wrong.
Grateful for anyone's experiences of being pregnant with epilepsy. Did your seizures come back, and was your baby ok?
