10 month old constantly coughing - what can I do to help?

Hi,

My DD has had a cough for over a month now, it seems to have gotten worse and she's coughing constantly. We've been to the GP but they said her chest is clear... but it seems as though it's not shifting ... is there anything I can do to help her? Should I try cough syrup? The doctor said cough syrup doesn't actually help, it's just marketing.

What can I give her?

Thanks

We used cough syrup for our toddler and seemed to help. We also swear by a warm bath with vapour and the calpol plug in. If you have a humidifier this also might help. Sometimes a cough just takes ages to clear.

Prop up the head of her cot, run a humidifier.

Lots of warm drinks: lemon very good and I think babies can have rosehip or fennel drinks (edited as I thought it was 10 year old and suggested honey). Babies are often ill most of their first winter it's their immune system getting going
