Me and my husband have a very strained relationship with his mother. My daughter is 2 in December, and my MIL has seen her only five times this year (she lives 20 mins away), and 4 of those 5, we have made the date and gone to her. She always has an excuse or some bit of fiction as to why she cant see us. My MIL has another grandchild that is her favourite, sees them multiple times per week, takes them on holiday etc. Well this Sunday my MIL was supposed to have my daughter for the whole day, as she realised that my baby is two and she does not know her. It is Wednesday and she has called to say that the other grandchild has hand/foot/mouth, and shes been seeing him all week with it. She is still "fine" to see my daughter on Sunday, but wanted to tell us in case of contagion. So my question is, 1. will my daughter be at risk of catching it if I send her anyway (the infected child will not be there same day), or do I keep her home, even though the whole thing could be one big excuse anyway? 2. Is it unreasonable to have words with her over this, as she made the plans to see my daughter, but then has been in close space with something she can catch just days before?
