Landlord only gives 6 months at a time

So I've been in this place 4.5 years but the landlord will only give 6 months tenancy at a time. Does anyone know if that leaves me vulnerable or will the legislation about notice etc still apply because in fact I've been here 4+ years. Am just worrying myself !

Shelter helpline will be able to answer this for you.
From my previous experience, after 6 months of initial contract it becomes rolling even if no new lease is signed. But this was quite a number of years ago so things may have changed.
