no mobile signal at home

Well, I have one tick on 5G and whenever I call anyone, the call breaks off, it's so frustrating. What are my options? AIBU to want a landline again? Do they still exist?

Or can I boost my EE signal? We even have a 5g mast very nearby, it's mystifying. I was on the phone to the 111 earlier and my call kept cutting off, same when I had to call the insurance the other day aaargg... it's mad and potentially dangerous not to be able to make a phone call in case of an emergency.

Please help. what options do I have??

WiFi calling? I used to live in a house with no signal. Everything went via WiFi.

BestIsWest · 14/10/2024 16:52

Do you have WIFI? Can you use WiFi calling?

The signal is rubbish in my house so I have to use this at home.

Can you enable ‘Wi-Fi calling’ on your mobile in your house? It should let you make and receive calls on your mobile while in your house. Sorry if I’ve misunderstood and this doesn’t help!

I can’t help but the day my EE contract finished was one of the happiest days of my life. Ok that’s an exaggeration but I feel your pain.

Echo other posters, enable wifi calling on your phone and it'll connect via the wifi.

We moved 2 years ago. Our previous house had no mobile signal so we went via WIFI. We also had a landline. It's fairly common in rural areas. My work phone wasn't enabled to work over WIFI so I had a message on it asking people to email me instead.

Pinacollider · 14/10/2024 16:55

Had this exact problem and always thought it was my house/phone (with EE). Then got a work SIM card with TalkMobile and by some miracle I could actually make phone calls! I'd suffered for years!! Now moved personal over to talk mobile too. Problem solved

Another +1 for WiFi calling. Essential in our house (& we’re not remote or rural or anything special - it’s just a big standard townhouse with weirdly dead reception on all networks, it seems!)

unsync · 14/10/2024 17:28

I have this issue. I still have a landline.

Larryimonducktales · 14/10/2024 17:47

I use WiFi calling too. When we had a power cut it was like being on dial up. The Vodafone sim in my iPad was fine, I think EE signal is just awful here. It used to be the best one!

Swissrollover · 14/10/2024 18:02

Landline plus WiFi callkng here. I was so pleased when Giffgaff finally introduced it recently as I've been planning to switch providers for a long time, but the signal seems poor for most around this rural area.

KnickerlessParsons · 14/10/2024 18:48

Talk to EE. I don't see how they can make you see your contract through to the end if they aren't actually providing you with a service. It's worth asking anyway.
Then ask on your local FB group to see what provider others near you use and what their signal is like.

Thank you for the very helpful responses. I'll check how to enable WIFI calls as a first step.
