Homeless with three children and no CAO

I’m about to be homeless soon as landlord wants to sell the house. I have been divorced for 5 years now and the kids dad live 10 mins away, since our divorce he has had the children 3 days and me 4 days.

I’ll have to make a homelessness application to the council, unfortunately I live in London. Can they refuse to rehouse me in London and instead offer me temporary accommodation in Birmingham? What about the children and their dad? He will not be able to see his kids 3 days a week, we don’t have a formal CAO but will they take this into consideration?

I can't advise on the rehousing bit buty advice would be not to move out thus making yourself homeless until either you have secured accommodation or it's gone via court. He can't just change the locks etc.
I presume you receive the CB?
Are you struggling to get the deposit for a new place or find anyone to accept you?

You need to contact Shelter.

I know I have to wait until the bailiffs are here, but just wondering if they will take into consideration that I share the kids with dad. I'm nervous because I know my council is notorious for rehousing people in Birmingham. I know personally a couple of people who have been through that with children.

If you’ve just been served the eviction order it could be nearly a year before the bailiffs arrive. Can you start looking for an alternative place in London yourself?
