Moving with school age children

Hubby and I are seriously considering a move in the next 2 years. We live in the West Midlands and we're considering moving within the region. We have primary age kids who enjoy being active.
Areas we were thinking of include Wolverhampton and surrounding areas and Shrewsbury.

Back story: hubby and I moved here for work before kids. We have no family or ties here and hubby is now WFH but does need to occasionally travel to Oxford and fly to France. I am highly employable and will be able to find a job easily.
We are also Irish and South east Asian with mixed race kids

Wolverhampton:

  • Pro here is that depending on where we would move to, we don't necessarily have to take kids out of their primary school.
  • The Royal and girls high school are very appealing for secondary school.
  • I could still work in same job.
  • culturally diverse
  • lots to do
  • unsure what it's like to live here.

Shrewsbury:

  • very pretty
  • appears a slower pace of life
  • not sure about schools but what I read online says good education
  • would need to change kids school

My questions really are:

  • what is it like living in these areas? Are ppl happy? Community feel? Deprivation?
  • where would you live in these areas? Schools are important.
  • Shrewsbury: NHS - has this improved?
  • Shrewsbury is so appealing but I'm concerned re diversity here. As outsiders, with no family links/friends here, would we be able to integrate ourselves into the community?

Any input would be much appreciated.
Thank you! 🙂
