How to deal with work issue?

Long story short, I work in healthcare and am trying to find a clinic to work in one day a week. We have different clinics.

I have a clinic I work in that day already, but it’s very far away from where I live and I’m not actually supposed to work there anyway. I’m only there because my ‘base’ is full that day.

I suggested that I see the two patients I am due to see (they are school visits anyway) and then work from home in the afternoon.

My boss rejected this and said ill just have to accept the longer commute.
So I’ll be going to school visits, then doing admin in a base which is extremely far away from my home. Seems super pointless and I’m really annoyed about it.

How should I approach this?

Sounds like you did approach it and were unsuccessful? Is there a waiting list for a space there you can get on.

I just don’t see the issue with working from home. I’ll be doing the same work at the office but I’d be 30 miles from home 🫠

Look into what the policy says around working from home base, and if its full. There must be something in writing that clarifies what your and your workplaces obligations are in this situation. If you can be forced to work anywhere or not.
