I'm shocked at to how hard it is to find for example a good experienced Plumber that actually able and willing to do a job.
So many cowboys and timewasters about.
This includes recommendations and going through Trusted Trader too.

the Trade websites are full of hard sell scammers. They pay to be on there. It’s the worst possible place to look

I was talking about which trusted trader where there is only a handful on there.
Or through the council trades people.

Try looking for female owned/ran trade businesses, I find they are much more consistent.

Totally agree with you.
I would have done various improvements to my home but just gave up on them because I've been unable to find any one interested / available to do the work.

And talking of plumbers:I had to try and get a plumber this weekend just past for an emergency job. Eventually I got a firm to agree to come out this morning. They couldn't even get my email address right to confirm the booking. So it was no surprise when mid morning they phoned to say no one was available to come out after all.
It's so annoying and frustrating.

Yes for sure. You'd think it wasn't impossible to get some small or medium jobs done.
I have a wall hung toilet and also explain that on the phone and still they run away.
Loads of newer bathrooms must be wall mounted these days and the mixer taps on wall / tiles over bath.
Yet they act like it's such a big job for any repairs or replacements.

Oh you need a part, will take two weeks. Ok thats fine thanks.
No quote no nothing.
I've learnt not to chase people.
