To keep it simple: I have a car to sell - on finance - worth more than what i owe.

I have an appt. at WBAC tomorrow.

Can i expect them to come close to the value they've quoted online? I need to get as much as poss.

Can anyone recommend a similar company - ie: buys your car there and then, pays off finance, pays rest into your bank.

Many thanks.

Motorway was much better than wbac for us.

They offer it to a range of dealers and you accept which ever offer you want (or none!)

Dealer came to house to collect car, no quibbles or reducing, very fair.

Oh my god Carwow is estimating a lot !

Auto trader is £6200
Arnold C £6010
WBAC £7390
BACUK waiting
Carwow £80000

I'd definitely take the 80 grand Grinassume that's a typo Wink

DH took his 12 year old just expensively scraped through an MOT car to motorpoint. They took it for a test drive and gave him far more for it than WBAC were even offering online.

JohnCravensNewsround · 08/10/2024 12:35

I've sold 2 cars through them. Be prepared for at least 10% off their quoted price

motherhoodmcrollercoaster · 08/10/2024 12:53

I would take it to the badge dealer, we did that with my car and got 2k more from them as dealers are looking for stock

Idontjetwashthefucker · 08/10/2024 13:01

Motorway are much better and they don't take a fee

SlipperyLizard · 08/10/2024 13:08

I used WBAC years ago (similar experience to others, they chipped the price down on the day) and used Motorway to sell more recently.

I recall taking lots of pics for Motorway which then gives less scope for later haggling as if there are any obvious chips etc you have already declared them. I’d definitely use motorway again, there was no haggling when they came to collect, just a thorough inspection then transferred money & left. That’s the other advantage - they come to you whereas WBAC you have to go to their location.

@Justme2023123 i'll try carwow also, thank you.

@TaylorSwish well done you! i guess they rely on people being in more of a rush. We'll able to give it a couple of days too.

Get your GCSE drama skills ready and act like you will walk away if you don’t get the right price!

We got quotes from WBAC and Motorway. Motorway valued the car higher so we went with them.

They auction the car to registered dealers, so we had a couple of times where the dealer involved backed out (nothing to do with the car). I think it took about three weeks to get a confirmed offer and then the dealer just turned up on the day, inspected the car and then sat on our driveway to do the payments (one to pay off our finance deal and the extra to us).

toomuchcardboard · 08/10/2024 13:12

Our mechanic and a local garage both told us our car wasn't worth more than £1000. We'd had it many years from new - bodywork and interior looked excellent but there was a lot of rust underneath which needed attention.
WBAC gave DH £3000 for it after inspecting it 😁. We were amazed.
The guy told DH that they send the cars straight to auction - overall it's profitable.
We saw it a few months later being sold by a dealer on Ebay for about £5000. As far as we could tell they'd smartened up the underside with black paint...

UpTheAnte · 08/10/2024 13:13

Another vote for Motorway here, got far more than we expected. They ask for a good number of specific photo's but it does mean no quibbling over price when the dealer collects.

Abigaillovesholidays · 08/10/2024 13:18

Motorway.co.uk were really good. Paid the price they said they would and came to collect the car.

chocomoccalocca · 08/10/2024 15:22

We sold ours at the weekend. They offered us a price was less than we wanted and so we told them we would leave it as we wanted a set amount. They gave us the price we wanted so you can get them up a bit from what they offer.

Newnames123 · 08/10/2024 15:25

I sold my car thru motorway. It's takes a bit longer than WBAC but I got more than the WBAC. Think from start to finish took a week.

tinglingallover · 09/10/2024 01:30

I've used WBAC twice now.

I'm sure I could have got a bit more money selling another way, but it was completely hassle free and made things much less stressful.

I'd definitely use them again!

christabellax · 09/10/2024 01:59

I’ve sold two cars to WBAC, 1st car they took a couple of hundred off for some scratches , it was still a good price , second car gave what they quoted , both times hassle free selling, very happy with the experience and I would use them again.

EngineStartStop · 09/10/2024 05:25

I’ve used them twice. First time they gave me exactly what they’d quoted online. Second time they gave me more than what they’d quoted online because I’d mistakenly declared it as a non-runner when, despite a lot of mechanical issues, it did run (in a fashion). I’ve no complaints and would use them again.

Feelingstrange2 · 09/10/2024 10:33

Motorway I found to be excellent. I received less than their valuation but I thought their estimate was high but worth trying. I got 500 less than their reserve, but about 10 percent more than I'd hoped for if I'd sold privately, so I accepted the highest offer.

They were very professional and kept me informed at each part of the process.
