To think that MPs are ridiculously unprofessional?

Hi all. I suppose I'm genuinely curious to see what people think of their local MPs - please share. Our local MP has 'love to laugh type of gal' as her bio on her official MP Facebook. And has just posted some snaps of her holiday in Paris? (I assume, it is without any context). Since she has been elected, there has been little to no political posts at all? I find it so ... bemusing. A few local people have also said that she hasn't got back to emails and queries sent months ago. Is this the norm?

I can do without a permenantly campaigning MP. Ours blocked me. I’ve never been rude, just disagreed with him.

Professionalism is lacking in all areas in society these days. Everyone seems to behave like teenagers as well.

FictionalCharacter · 04/10/2024 23:53

They really are. They don’t feel the need to have any dignity any more.

OonaStubbs · 04/10/2024 23:54

They are all shits.

I do agree. This woman in particular I'd estimate to be mid - late fifties too. I just don't really understand what they are being paid for and how this behaviour is allowed? So undignified. Our local area is very deprived and there is increasingly heavy reliance on food banks. For a labour (or neo-tory) MP to be ignoring her constituents AND posting pictures of the Eiffel tower, with zero political or work based output on her page for months at a time - it's just so jarring

My ex MP, lost her seat in the election thank goodness, she was hardly ever seen in the constituency, she did not live here ( lived about 50 miles away), rent a second home here or have an office here. She visited briefly for a civic occasion or to receive an award I understand, never actually saw her myself. I wrote to her about my concerns around visiting care homes during Covid, did not get a reply, not even a acknowledgement. I sent the same letter to the MP for where my mum used to live and to the MP for the constituency where her care home was. I got replies from both these men, my Mums old MP ( mum still owned a house in his constituency) was very helpful, directing me to a senior manager in Social Services and gave me some other good advice.

Now we have a local Lib Dem guy, kids at the local high school, lived here for years and is well known for his work on the local council. He is doing a monthly drop in at the local library as well as at his party office and is helping us campaign for the reopening of our local refuse tip. I just hope he continues to do a good job.
