It is October so please share your real life spooky experiences

I have had a few encounters, most recently I was alone in work and the lift door opened by itself and I heard footsteps down the stairs - the building was definitely empty

I am generally a very spooky person, and alas have never had anything spooky happen to me. But joining for the stories!

My black cat sometimes runs in the room and just stares intently at a corner like he's looking at someone. Always happens at night!

Weird! Just looked on the Paranormal page to see if there's anything yet!
I have nothing exciting to share; a memorable stay in a "haunted" inn in Chester & a loud knock on our front door in the night when DH's Grandad died. Will explain properly tomorrow, as off to bed now.

This was probably (or so I keep telling myself) just coincidental timing, but a few nights ago I was watching a horror film with DW after the kids went to bed.

In one part, the woman in the film turned to look at her wall as something fell off, and a second later one of our shelves above the tv fell apart and everything came clattering down.

I don't think we've both ever jumped so suddenly before!

Joining for the woo.

I did actually see my first ghost about two years ago but I fear it was brain fart as I saw two in one morning and it's the only time I have seen one

Look forward to this every year!

I have an occasionally helpful ghost. Wish I could see her.

A few years ago, I was living with my friends cousin, and whenever I was in the house on my own, I always felt uneasy, like I was being watched. I could never put my finger on it, as it was just a normal house and as far as I was aware, nothing had ever happened there before. One night, me and my friend were sat watching TV and I had this complete wave of fear in me, I've never felt anything like it, it was like the room was closing in on me, she turned round and looked at me with a scared look and we both just said, shall we go upstairs, we both bolted up and when we got to my room, she asked why we had done it, and I said I didn't know, I just didn't want to be in the living room and she said she felt exactly the same. The stairs had spindles and I used to run to the top when I turned the lights off at the bottom as I felt like something was going to grab me if I didn't. I hated going to the bathroom at night as you could see the bottom of the stairs from there and again, it felt like I was being watched. One day, I was sat in the living room and the door to the hallway was open, she had a long rug going from the front door to the kitchen, and as I looked up, it looked like the rug just tucked itself, like it had been pulled along the floor to flatten itself. Never been more freaked out in my life.

I saw someone's pet come in through the cat flap and land with a thump in the kitchen and disappear. There was no cat flap. Pet was long dead and buried in the garden. Owner also heard the thump and looked up. I was glad to have a cup of tea to drink at that point #shocked

We lived in an old house. Our then two year old would regularly ask me who “the lady” was. She would say that she came to see her in bed and sometimes told her stories. It was very strange. The house had lots of bizarre things happen. The taps in the bathroom would turn on full blast when nobody had been up there for example. I honestly think we had a visitor living with us.

my husband works in an extremely old pub. Centuries ago in a war, a man was chased into the pub and killed. It’s said he now haunts the pub. They have seen glasses move with nobody touching them and falling on the floor and smashing. They can’t put a clock up in the kitchen as it always breaks within 24 hours. Nobody will go in the cellar alone as they see shadows and there is often a knocking noise, things fall off shelves for no reason. Glass smashes in pictures on the wall. Lights switch on and off. It’s really bizarre.

Me and my house mate got an ouija board, never did it, just had it in the house. Ever since having it all kinds of freaky stuff happened.
Lots of unexplained activity at the front door when no one was there (enclosed flat inside a building, other person in the opposite flat was away). Door handle going nuts, a shuffling noise at the door (as if someone was rubbing their body up against it). Went shopping, llocked my door, I came back and my front door was wide open. Was in the kitchen and heard a strange demon voice, cat pelted out of the house.
Went for a walk at night time and a person walking in front of us literally just disappeared (there was a graveyard nearby).

Amazing stories to get the thread started

@Scutterbug that is so interesting about the taps - you have reminded me I have had 2 incidences of the taps coming on full blast on their own in my house. Once before a funeral and another after a close relative died.
@MissyPants - this is exactly why I would not have a Ouija board in my house!

I don't know if this is spooky per se but it's always stuck with me. My friends and I went to a haunted house in America, I was prob early 20s. Anyway, this girl came up to our group and she seemed genuinely terrified, she said someone was after her and wanted to join us. We said fine but I think we assumed it was part of the "show". Anyway, we were walking through and this guy grabbed her and she let out this blood curdling scream. He then proceeded to fake stab her but damn if it looked real. He dragged her off while she was screaming bloody murder and fuck if it seemed real. We didn't see her for the rest of the night or when we left. After the recent slew of horror movies that have come out about things like this happening in haunted houses, I always wonder if maybe it was real...
