Not hearing outcome or feedback from job interviews

AIBU to think this is such poor form? Especially when you ask candidates to do work for the interview.

In my case this is actually an internal vacancy where I haven’t been told an outcome or given any feedback, even after chasing! I find it really disappointing and stressful to be left in limbo, even though I’m now 99% sure I wasn’t successful. Why do companies even do this?! AIBU to think there’s no good excuse for it?

Super frustrating and far to common

But if it’s internal, I’d put a meeting in with who interviewed you and ask for feedback

How long ago was your interview?

Robertsradios · 02/10/2024 14:45

The interview was 3 1/2 weeks ago. I actually did put in a request for a feedback meeting but it was ignored!

how long did it take them to confirm you had been successful in your current role?

Robertsradios · 02/10/2024 14:47

When I started they initially turned me down because my salary expectations were too high but then after a few weeks offered to match what I wanted so it’s kind of irrelevant. Since then I’ve just been promoted without an interview as such. They initially said they wanted to decide by the end of the week that I had my interview.

it sounds like they might be waiting on successful candidates to confirm or in negotiations on salary like they were with you for current role

and if they aren’t successful with this candidate… they will move down the list

So at this point, they don’t want to rule you out until they know whether they can get those they want more

either way… it is rude and doesn’t reflect well on the company for them to have just ignored your contact

It’s very awkward as the person interviewing me was my line manager! I’m on mat leave and I wanted to arrange a KIT day but feel I can’t now. Very frustrating!

why? two totally separate things

be professional and contact them about the kit day, making no reference to anything else
