AIBU to think my stitches may be infected?

I had a cyst removed from my scalp last Thursday and it’s still pretty painful and red. I don’t know if I’m just being a drama queen or if I should bother my doctor in the morning. I need a sanity check!

It’s hard to tell from the photo but it looks like there may be some swelling. Plus it looks like there is some pus collecting in a couple of areas. Does it feel hot to touch? Do you think the redness has got worse or stayed the same?

I think it is worth a call to your doctor. It can wait until morning as long as you feel well. If you start to feel ill or develop a fever I would call 111 for advice.

It looks like a localised infection to me. I'd get it checked out just because of the puss looking bit. You're not being a drama queen by having it checked out, even if it isn't an infection. You're not a GP so why would you know.

It doesn’t feel hot but there is definitely more redness than there was. I feel okay, just sore. I will give my go a call first thing tomorrow. Thank you

Skin infections can turn nasty quickly so you should definitely go as soon as you can.

they got me in to see the nurse this afternoon. She didn’t think it was anything to worry about because it wasn’t very swollen and didn’t feel hot. She said they don’t like to give antibiotics unless they are 100% sure it’s infected and she said it has hard to tell. So fingers crossed it’s nothing to worry about!

I hope that's put your mind at ease.

If they won't give you antibiotics then buy some oregano oil capsules on amazon and use those
