Sorry to post here but I cant get through to the doctors! My little boy was very poorly last week and today is the last day of antibiotics. They have the flu jab at school this week but I am unsure if he can have it if he has been poorly till now? Does anyone know? I know that if you had a fever you are not supposed to have it but unsure! Thank you!

Is he well now? Having a vaccine when unwell with an infection can slow recovery because the immune system is trying to fight the infection as well as mount an immune response against the vaccine. But if he’s more or less better and otherwise healthy (no immune system issues) then it should be ok to have the vaccine. It can be really difficult getting catch up flu vaccines if they miss the school one but your GP surgery or the school nurse might have more info if you wanted to delay it.
