Grown Woman Pushing Children

DS goes to school via school bus and gets on at a popular stop with a quite a lot of children. I go to work around the same time and often see him and his friends waiting for the bus and as children they all do shove on which wouldn’t be acceptable on a normal bus but the bus driver and children don’t seem to mind. This year, a new group of yr7 mothers consistently wait at the stop which is quite unusual. DS told me and I was a bit 🤔 so I observed the following morning.

One mother was absolutely horrific. She shoved through the other children then got on the bus just so her little gremlin could get on! This involved her grabbing on to another child’s bag to hoist herself on. Apparently she argues with the bus driver and tbh her daughter in all actuality doesn’t seem particularly bothered about pushing onto the bus

AIBU in that pushing school children as a grown woman is ridiculous?

Well either get over there and give her a piece of your mind or talk to the school but you know the school aren't going to do anything.

The pushing is ridiculous full stop and should be nipped in the bud by the driver, even if the bus company has to have a word with the school.

Maybe her kid's been complaining she can't get on, due to all the pushing and shoving.

Still doesn't make it right though.

Sorry, all the children push to get on the bus which you think is fine, but when an adult does the same it somehow isn’tfine? Is that right?

honestasever · 30/09/2024 16:13

They all sound vile

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 30/09/2024 16:18

Nobody should be pushing! It’s absolutely not fine when the children all push and shove on the bus and this is the first issue to be dealt with.

Are these mums there in the first place because all the other children are shoving and the year 7s aren’t getting a look in? Sounds like it would be quite intimidating for an 11 yo. Not saying it’s ok for them to push but it does need to be taken in context.

And calling the yr7 child a “little gremlin” is horrible- why this hostile attitude?

Maybe the "horrific" woman is sick of her daughter being pushed around by older boys (and perhaps girls) on the bus and is rightly pissed off?

If my kid was pushing and shoving at a bus stop to get on then I'd be having words with them.
