Will a new broadband provider drill into my wall again?

I installed Sky Superfast broadband two years ago. Lots of drilling and a big ugly box on the outside of my house. Not very please about it, but fine. They have upped the tariff since and are charging me £45 a month which is far more than I want to pay. Especially as I now rarely work from home. Nobody in this house games, probably the most data-heavy thing we do is video-call people and download the odd TV programme or podcast onto our phones. We probably don’t actually need superfast.

Anyway, I want to haggle a discount from Sky, or switch provider.

The big thing holding me back from switching is the fear that if I do, the new company will also come and drill and I’ll then have two ugly boxes on my wall. In a few years time if I switch again the house will be a mess.

So my question is: how can I avoid this happening?

Thanks

Can you remove the sky box and re-use the hole?

I don’t know! It’s a good idea, if possible, but I’m no expert in these things. Thanks for replying :-)

We've done two changes. BT reused their own hole and Community fibre reused the Virgin holes. Each originally said they would drill, you really do need to ask.

Is the box grey, about 9 inches square and got Openreach on it, ours is for BT. If it is it is probably the standard box for all providers except Virgin.
