This morning, YouTube interrupted the middle of my 9 minute YOGA session with a fucking meerkat advert and several others. Yoga is meant to be relaxing and I nearly had a stroke! Was it a glitch or are they trying really hard to get me to subscribe (I never will)? PS I have been doing this same yoga routine for years ad-free

It’s the channel that chooses to monetise the video with ads.

YANBU, I hate ads, but as mentioned above, the creator added the ads, time to subscribe and pay or find another yoga provider

If the content is valuable to you, you might want to consider subscribing. It’s one way for you to pay the person who’s making these videos - the other way is by watching ads. So, sadly, yes I think YABU. Things on YouTube take people time and effort to make; I don’t think it’s unreasonable for them to ask for some return for that. I don’t like YouTube for a lot of reasons, but I pay for a subscription so that I can watch the stuff I enjoy without ads. It’s no different from paying for Netflix, in my mind.

Sorry - I forgot to mention one critical thing (!). I have to watch at least two ads before the video starts. I absolutely understand this and don't mind - it was the interruption of my downward dog half way through that really irked me!

Think you might need to find an online yoga subscription service. There are loads other than you tube. Yoga teachers don’t work for free so I guess the paid ads must be helping someone along the line. Yoga is definitely a time for peace not meerkats though 😂
