I’m curious if any of you have experience being a board trustee. Who do you do it for and what impact has it had on your life or career? Has it helped you professionally, personally, or in other unexpected ways?

Hey so I'm not but i work with people who are and I think if the charity is well run it can be a hugely valuable experience... if it isn't a well run charity (either old style or CIO) then it can be gruelling!

I am, for a royal chartered non profit. As with any board, the state of maturity of the organisation and management team has a huge impact on the experience. Are there any particular questions you have?

Generally, exposure to different organisations is a great learning experience and it's certainly helped my personal development. My career, I'm not sure, but being able to board member on the CV never hurts I guess
