Yes my life may be that boring that I’m excited about it šŸ˜…
Best recipes please?
Ive previously done the most amazing sort of beef stew and also a beef massaman curry šŸ˜‹
Also, I know it’s cheesy but been through a hard time recently and may as well embrace autumn..any lovely autumn ideas of things to do and that make you feel…don’t say it..,cosy, especially with a 6 year old šŸ

Also going to give it a try...any vegetable based recipes welcome please...

LadyKenya · 27/09/2024 18:48

Yabu for only just getting yours out, mine is never put away.😁 Recently when it was feeling rather cold, I made a lamb shank, and tomato stew. I served it with mash, and dark greens.

While summer is my favourite season I do like autumn, so YANBU. I’ve bought a curry for tonight as too busy to cook one.

MILLYmo0se · 27/09/2024 18:53

Bored of Lunch on Insta/FB has great recipes for slow cooker and Air Fryer (he has cook books too). The cheesy chilli macaroni is a big hit here

Puttheneedleontherackets · 27/09/2024 19:34

@MILLYmo0se Cheesy chilli macaroni sounds good šŸ‘Œ

I got a chicken reduced for a quick sale last night. Bunged it in the slow cooker this morning on a bed of carrots and onions with 100 ml of water and was greated by a lovely smell and an already ready meal when I arrived home from work..... which was a particularly enjoyable realisation as I had actually forgotten that I'd done it (hard day at work!). Watching for more ideas...... I'm with the PP who said her coker is never put away : I love using it in the summer if I want a hot meal but can't bear the idea of turning on the oven.

Puttheneedleontherackets · 27/09/2024 20:38

Love the doing it in the morn, then coming home to the smell and having to do nothing

I love this too. Still remember the time I did all the searing and pre heating on the hob, put the dish in the slow cooker and off out I went expecting to come home hours later to a house smelling delicious and with dinner waiting for me. Except I forgot to turn on the slow cooker so came home to a dish of raw meat and cold stock. I was devastated 😣

hockityponktas · 27/09/2024 20:49

Oh yes love my slow cooker, here for some new ideas!
here are what I mostly do in mine; Beef chilli, veggie chilli, mushroom stroganoff (or beef) chicken ProvenƧal (I do use a Schwartz sachet for this one though!) chicken thigh stew, pulled bbq pork, bolognaise, meatballs in creamy tomato sauce, hotpot

sonofrageandlove · 27/09/2024 20:51

Pork joint with some Mexican spice, whole dried chilli’s and stock which becomes pulled pork for tacos. Then throw in a load of dried beans with the juices and the leftover meat to make a chilli.

quirkychick · 27/09/2024 21:00

I made a kind of gumbo yesterday with boneless, skinless chicken thighs, reduced prawns, cumin, coriander, paprika, smoked chipotle and veg: okra, onion, carrot, celery and a tin of tomatoes. Boneless, skinless chicken thighs make great pulled chicken with any spices you want.

Xmasmusings · 27/09/2024 21:03

The cheesy chilli macaroni is a hit in my house too.

RaspberryBeretxx · 27/09/2024 21:03

I’ve just saved this fb reel to make. Looks quite basic but I think will be a hit with the dc! www.facebook.com/reel/2927620640729440?fs=e&s=TIeQ9V

Pulled pork: shoulder of pork, brown sugar, bbq sauce, bay leaves, paprika and whatever else you fancy.

Overnight oatmeal with water. Only need a dollop of yogurt and some brown sugar the next morning.

Beef stew with cheapest cuts.

Lamb shanks.

Confit chickpeas.

RaspberryBeretxx · 27/09/2024 21:23

I also just remembered the pulled pork I did a few days ago. This recipe but in the slow cooker, it was so good and really versatile - we had it with baked potatoes then made into fried rice then with pasta. I didn’t put the beans in only because I didn’t have any or the chilli as it was for Dd aged 3 also. The shoulder joint cost less than Ā£6 and did so many meals. thehappyfoodie.co.uk/recipes/pulled-pork-and-black-lean-chilli/

The Poppy Cooks slow cooker book is AMAZING! so many tasty dishes and a lot of things you wouldn't think to do with it too. I've enjoyed the broccoli cheese soup and coq au vin this week. Beef tacos tomorrow!!

BananaPalm · 27/09/2024 21:41

The "Taming twins" website is fantastic for quick and easy slow cooker recipes! I've tried 70% of her recipes and I'm planning to try two more this week šŸ‘šŸ»

Nottodaythankyou123 · 27/09/2024 21:54

I made a chicken, leek and chorizo pie in mine yesterday (a Bored of Lunch recipe) - absolutely 10/10. I also batch cook soup in it on the weekend for the week ahead - and a Lindt hot chocolate if I’m feeling fancy, oh and ikea style meatballs šŸ˜

MymateDave · 27/09/2024 21:59

I love slow cooking! Beef curry is a favourite at the moment.
Hunters chicken turned out well last week, I just added the cheese 45 minutes or so before serving.
Lamb & mint casserole is perfect in it.
I do rice pudding a couple times a week the kids love it. It also does a banana bread beautifully. I often have 2 running, dd19 loves a slow cooked jacket spud while we have something in the other.

LittleGreenDragons · 27/09/2024 22:00

Some of those recipe links look amazing

ssd · 27/09/2024 22:39
